About interior civil work.

Interior civil work changes the bones of a space: walls taken down or built, doors and windows moved, floors levelled, bathrooms and kitchens rebuilt, and the plumbing and electrical lines that run behind them. It comes first in any interior project, and everything after it depends on it being done well.

We plan the civil work with the design, so the walls, openings, plumbing and electrical points are where the finished room needs them. Before a wall is altered, we check what the change involves and what permissions the building needs.

How we work. On finishes and civil work, step by step.

  1. Site visit

We measure the space and check the walls, floors, ceilings, wiring and plumbing already there.

  2. Plan and choose

We plan the work and help you choose the ceiling, lighting, flooring, wall finishes and colours, with a detailed BOQ.

  3. Civil work first

Changes to walls and openings, plumbing and electrical are done before any finish, so nothing has to be opened up again.

  4. Finishes and quality check

The false ceiling, flooring, walls and paint, then a quality check of every surface before handover.

Questions. About interior civil work.

What does interior civil work include?

Breaking and building walls, new openings for doors and windows, levelling floors, waterproofing, rebuilding bathrooms and kitchens, and the plumbing and electrical work that goes with them.

Can a load-bearing wall be removed?

Not without a structural engineer's advice, and often not at all in a flat. We find out which walls carry load before suggesting any change, and plan around them.

Do I need my society's permission for civil work?

Most housing societies ask to be told before civil work starts, and some need written permission for changes to walls, plumbing or the outside of the flat. We tell you what to ask for.

Can you redo a bathroom?

Yes. We can take a bathroom back to its walls, renew the waterproofing and plumbing, and rebuild it with new tiles, fittings and storage.

Why does waterproofing matter?

Water that seeps through a floor or a wall damages the plaster, the paint and the home below. Waterproofing wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and balconies before they are tiled prevents it.
